The Galatea Galaxy is the “Galatea” barrel family, which will expand in 2024 to double its capacity.
Galatea has a slender, feminine, elegant shape. Its “egg-shaped” design allows for an increase in the container’s volume whilst still maintaining the same ability to utilise convective currents. This process is made possible by the spherical ends, which help keep the cap compact and uniform during maceration with the skins. The stainless steel rack is stackable and easy to fill.
According to Ovid, Galatea was a beautiful sea nymph who was in love with Aci, a young shepherd who was both her lover and the object of the Cyclops Polyphemus’s desire. When Polyphemus found the two in a romantic embrace, he killed Aci in a fit of jealousy. The nymph, overcome with grief, transformed her blood to keep their love alive. A figure from mythology linked to the myth of Polyphemus. Just like the enchanting nymph, Galatea is elegant and seductive, perfect for a refined wine cellar.
